First Baptist Church Whitesburg is a Southern Baptist church and partners with other like-minded churches through three levels of Baptist cooperation: our local association, state convention, and national convention.
Three Forks Baptist Association
At the local level, First Baptist Church Whitesburg cooperates with the Three Forks Baptist Association. Through this partnership, we join with churches across our region for fellowship, missions, ministry, and outreach to our local communities. We believe that churches are stronger when they work together to advance the gospel throughout Eastern Kentucky.
Kentucky Baptist Convention
At the state level, we cooperate with the Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC). The KBC connects and equips Kentucky Baptist churches for missions, church planting, evangelism, discipleship, leadership development, and other ministries that help churches fulfill the Great Commission throughout Kentucky and beyond.
Southern Baptist Convention
At the national level, First Baptist Church Whitesburg cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). Through the SBC, we partner with thousands of other Southern Baptist churches to support the work of the gospel around the world. This cooperation includes the work of the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, seminaries, and other Southern Baptist entities.
Churches Working Together for the Gospel
These affiliations do not place First Baptist Church Whitesburg under the authority of an association, convention, or denominational hierarchy. We are an autonomous local church, accountable to Christ and governed according to His Word. We voluntarily cooperate with other Southern Baptist churches because we believe we can accomplish more together for the sake of the gospel than we can alone.
Our desire is to faithfully make disciples, proclaim the gospel, strengthen the church, and take the good news of Jesus Christ to our community, our state, our nation, and the nations.
